Maurice Greene (August 12, 1696 - December 1, 1755) was an English composer and organist. Born in London, the son of a clergyman, and entered the choir of the Cathedral of St. Paul teachers Jeremiah Clarke and Charles King. Studied organ with Richard Brind, and after his death, Greene became organist of the cathedral. On the death of William Croft in 1727, Greene was appointed organist of the Chapel Royal, and in 1730 professor of music at the University of Cambridge. In 1735 he was appointed music master to the king. Greene's death was working on the compilation of music from the Cathedral, who completed his student and successor William Boyce. Many of the pieces included in this collection are still used in Anglican church services.
William Croft (Baptized 30 December 1678-14 August 1727) Was an organist and composer Español. Croft was born at the Manor House, Nether Ettington, Warwickshire.
